When a manufacturer has instrument models (product types) that carry a RRID (Research Resource Identifier), a link to the RRID resource portal is displayed next to the manufacturer name after aggregation. RRIDs are persistent identifiers used primarily in the biomedical literature to cite research resources such as antibodies, cell lines, model organisms, and software tools. Instrument models represent one of the more recently added resource categories. In the PIDINST metadata schema, an RRID can serve as the modelIdentifier, linking an individual instrument instance (identified by PIDINST) to its product class (identified by RRID).
